Juniper
firewall/VPN solutions also provide some of the most comprehensive high
availability (HA) solutions available in the market today. Using Juniper
Redundancy Protocol (NSRP), firewall sessions and VPN tunnels can be
synchronized between an HA pair, providing sub-second failover to a
backup device in the case of device or interface failure.
Active/Active deployments to allow both devices to pass traffic and stay
fully synchronized to provide for higher burst capacity
Full-Mesh configuration to allow for redundant physical paths in the
network and thereby provide maximum resiliency and uptime
Leaderless clustering to prevent a single point of failure
Adding to the multiple levels of device redundancy, most Juniper
appliances integrate support for dynamic routing protocols, including
RIP version 2, OSPF and BGP. While not designed for core Internet
routing functions, dynamic routing support allows a Juniper device to
integrate with the routing infrastructure for both firewall and VPN
functions, providing for increased resiliency and support for multiple
ISPs. |

Highly Scalable Management |
 |
 |
|
|
 |
 |
|
Juniper's broad line of
security solutions allows enterprises to cost-effectively secure their
remote sites, regional offices and network perimeter, as well as the
network core, without sacrificing performance. Juniper's best-of-breed
security functionality can be deployed in a layered manner throughout
the network to provide the necessary level of network and application
level protection. |

Juniper
provides three ways to manage firewall/VPN security solutions, using a local
Command Line Interface (CLI), using local HTML Web Interface, or using a
centralized policy-based management system called Juniper-Security Manager.
Power users will find the full-featured CLI accessible through the console port
or the network using SSH or Telnet. The CLI supports all device commands, and
includes debugging commands, which are helpful when troubleshooting network
problems. Users that desire graphical user interfaces can use the local Web User
Interface accessible through HTTP or HTTPS (SSL). The Web UI provides
menu-driven wizards to simplifying device configuration tasks such as VPN tunnel
creation, as well as log viewing and device status monitoring. For more
demanding deployments, Juniper-Security Manager provides central control of
device configuration, network settings, and security policy configuration
combined with fully integrated centralized logging. Who has access to these
particular functions and what objects they can operate on can be controlled by
the unique role-based administrative control (read/write privileges) within
Juniper-Security Manager. Role-based administration allows device technicians,
network and security administrators to work together to improve management
efficiency, reduce overhead and lower operating costs.
A key design philosophy of Juniper-Security Manager is to simplify the
complexity of security device administration while maintaining the flexibility
to meet different organizational requirements. Juniper-Security Manager provides
a single, integrated management interface that allows every device parameter of
the Juniper firewall/VPN devices to be controlled from a centralized location.
With a few clicks of a mouse, users can configure a device, create a security
policy or manage the software update. Juniper provides multiple ways to manage
firewall/VPN security solutions. |

Juniper
and Trend Micro together provide best-of-breed, end-to-end security solutions
with a variety of products and features including firewall, VPN and antivirus
solutions. With the Juniper-5GT, Trend Micro’s antivirus solution is embedded in
the appliance for protection at the network perimeter and at remote sites. For
comprehensive antivirus protection at the central site, Juniper and Trend Micro
have teamed up to offer a range of solutions based on the Juniper-25 through
Juniper- 500 products and Trend Micro’s gateway antivirus technology. |

Juniper Deep Inspection Firewall |
|
|
|
|
Juniper’s Deep Inspection firewall builds on the strengths of stateful
inspection and integrates intrusion prevention technology into the firewall to
provide application-level attack protection at the network perimeter. Leveraging
the efficiencies of both technologies, Juniper’s Deep Inspection firewall can
efficiently perform access control functions as well as detect application level
attacks to determine whether to allow or deny traffic. |
